Esa-Pekka Salonen, a prominent Finnish conductor, started out by studying horn and composing. He first decided to take up conducting only to ensure that someone would conduct his own compositions. Soon everyone discovered the skills of this multi-talent.
Salonen’s passion for music has taken him around the world with orchestras L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra. Salonen has also won the UNESCO International Rostrum of Composers, been awarded with a Grammy and named ”Musician of the year” by Musical America.
Currently he works as the Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor of Philharmonia Orchestra in London.
